Our Story

A Studio Built on Passion, Purpose, and the Love of Dance

Jewels School of Dance was founded with a simple but powerful belief: every dancer deserves quality instruction, genuine encouragement, and the opportunity to grow.

Our Philosophy

More Than a Dance Class

At Jewels School of Dance, we believe that dance education is about far more than learning steps. It's about building confidence, developing discipline, expressing creativity, and discovering what you're capable of. We create an environment where students feel safe to try, to fail, to grow, and to shine.

Our approach combines strong technical training with a nurturing, positive atmosphere. We hold our students to high standards while celebrating every milestone — because we know that the journey matters just as much as the destination.

Strong Technique

We believe in teaching dance the right way — with proper technique, age-appropriate progressions, and a deep respect for each style's traditions.

Positive Environment

Our studio is a place where students feel welcomed, valued, and encouraged. We celebrate effort, growth, and the courage it takes to step onto the dance floor.

Individual Growth

Every dancer is unique. We meet students where they are and help them develop at their own pace, building skills and confidence along the way.

Community

Dance is better together. We foster a sense of belonging, friendship, and mutual support among our students, families, and faculty.

Meet Our Founder

Lauren Hughes

Owner & Lead Dance Educator

Lauren Hughes is an Atlanta native who began dancing at age three. Her love of movement grew into a lifelong passion for dance education, performance, and choreography. Lauren developed her training through Brenau University, where she studied dance education and gained experience in ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, modern, and contemporary styles.

Her background includes years of experience in dance instruction, choreography, and competitive dance team coaching. Lauren has dedicated her career to helping students grow not just as dancers, but as confident, expressive, and disciplined individuals.

After years of teaching and mentoring young dancers, Lauren founded Jewels School of Dance with a clear mission: to create a studio where every student — regardless of background or experience level — has the opportunity to learn, grow, and shine.

"Every dancer has a story. I started this studio to help each one of them tell it."
